Station 1 Bubbles – Ages 3 and over. Swimmers learn how to blow bubbles, open their eyes, submerge their face, and basic air exchange. 10 relaxed bobs in a row with bubbles must be completed to move to Station 2. (max. 4 students per class)
Station 2 Floats and Glides – Ages 3 and over. Swimmers learn to Front Glide and recover and Back Glide and recover for 5 seconds. Back and Front floats are learned along with Streamline bobs. (max. 4 students per class).
Station 3 Kicking – Ages 3 and over. The foundation of swimming starts in Station 3. Front kick streamlined, and Back kick streamlined for 15 feet. Swimmers learn Porpoising, Dolphin kick, and body balance, all of these skills are needed to be a proficient swimmer. (max. 5 students per class).
Station 4 Crawl Stroke – Swimmers will learn the “Side Glide Kick” for 20 feet. The Crawl stroke is taught and swimmers swim for 20 feet. Swimmers learn the safety skill of Rollover–front to back, back to front and how to call for help while on their back. Somersaults both forward and back are learned, along with Finning, sculling, and Backwards bobs. (max. 5 students per class)
Station 5 Freestyle – Breathing for the Crawl stroke is taught, and swimmers will learn to swim using side breathing for a minimum of 4 breaths. Double somersaults and handstands are introduced to teach breath control basics for turning and diving. (Max. 6 students per class)
Station 6 Backstroke – Along with continued practice of Freestyle swimming skills, swimmers will learn to swim Backstroke for 30 feet, and Treading water for 1 minute. Jumping, Sitting Dives, Kneeling Dives, and Standing Dives are taught. (Max. 6 students per class).
Station 7 Breaststroke & Butterfly – Swimmers will now be swimming Freestyle for 50 yards and Backstroke for 25 yards. The introduction to Breaststroke kick will be taught, and swimmers will be able to kick for 20 feet. Breaststroke arms and Butterfly arms are learned. (Max. 7 students per class).
Station 8 Turns – Swimmers are taught how to use bi-lateral breathing for Freestyle, and will be able to swim 100 yards. Backstroke skills are improved, along with the ability to swim Breaststroke for 25 yards. Butterfly is taught and swimmers will be able to swim 25 yards. Turns are introduced for all strokes. (Max. 7 students per class).
Station 9 Lifetime Strokes – Swimmers will swim Freestyle for 200 yards using bi-lateral breathing for one continuous 50, swim Butterfly for 25 yards, and swim Breaststroke for 50 yards. Swimmers are taught both the Elementary Backstroke and Sidestroke and will be able to swim each for 25 yards. (Max. 7 students per class).
Station 10 Individual Medley – In this final Station swimmers will be able to swim 300 yards Freestyle, 100 yards of Backstroke and 100 yards of the Individual Medley. Turn refinement is continued along with diving. Upon completion of Station 10 swimmers will be given a Gold Star for their SwimAmerica Certificate. (Max. 7 students per class)
